Roesel’s Bush-cricket (Metrioptera roeselii)
Roesel’s Bush- cricket is a medium- sized, robust looking bush cricket that is easily distinguished by the Ushaped light coloured mark on the side of its pronotum. Originally a species of coastal grasslands and found only in the south east of the country, it gradually expanded its range west and north during the 20th century and has been present in Worcestershire since 2005. Adults are on the Common from July until Autumn but can be tricky to find as they tend to sit low in grasses unless they are flushed.
